Environmental Protection Agency Attack

The United States President and his Administration is threatening the EPA with government cuts. The Republicans have the determination to eliminate the EPA. Without the EPA, America will go backwards in time when skies, air, land and water were filled with pollution.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Established

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established by the United States President Richard Nixon on December 2, 1970, and is an agency of the United States federal government whose mission is to protect human and environmental health. The EPA was established and consolidated into one agency because of an increased concern about environmental pollution. The EPA provides a variety of federal research, monitoring, standard-setting and enforcement activities to ensure the protection of the environment.

Environmental Protection Everyday

Practice the three R’s of conservation: reduce, reuse, and recycle.
1.) Reduce: Ask your parents to install low flow shower heads to conserve water and turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Turn off the lights, TV, and computer when you leave a room because it will save electricity.
2.) Reuse:  Take cloth bags to the grocery store when shopping. Reuse the plastic and paper bags from the last grocery store visit. Make recycled paper out of old newspapers for handmade cards and letters. Make a frame out of cardboard, buttons, Popsicle sticks and other small pieces of leftover items. It will bring out your artistic side and you will have a beautiful gift for a family member.
3.) Recycle: Give old items a second life or buy recycled paper, pencils and other recycled products. Tell the world that you care about the environment.

PLANT A TREE

Planting a tree is a great way to help the environment. Did you know trees clean the air we breathe and produce oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from the air? Trees provide food and shelter for wildlife.
