Call To Action: Our First Stand to Save Health Care! A Nation-Wide Day of Action!

At the end of December, Democratic leaders Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi joined with the Democratic Outreach leader Bernie Sanders to announce a series of Days of Action – national events with a focus on supporting programs that help working families. The Democratic Congressional members will do the local organizing and share the information back to the Sanders organization for national coordination.  Sunday, January 15th is the first Day of Action. These are rallies held in cities across the nation. Their focus is on saving health care and demonstrating support for the ACA. It’s also to show the Republican Congress the strength of our commitment to the ACA, Medicare, and Medicaid.  However, there will be more, this is just the first stand.

On Sunday, January 15, Democratic members of Congress, trade unions, senior groups, health care activists and all those who believe in economic and social justice are organizing a day of action to tell Republicans loudly and clearly: You are not going to get away with it.

You can find the rally nearest you on this map, with additional details such as the organizer found on the list. Use the Twitter hashtag #OURFIRSTSTAND to tell the Senate Republicans @SenateGOP we won’t let them get away with it! Share this information on Facebook and on Twitter.

Your Democratic congresspeople organize these events, get them scheduled, and notify their constituents. Find your Representative here if you don’t know how to contact them. However, to find which legislative district you belong to, you’ll have to go to your state’s website.  If you don’t have a Democratic member of congress, the Sanders’ site has the press releases and event information. Sign up here, so you can follow upcoming events in his News and Events sections.
